"Poetry for Tiana Finney"

No se puede vivir sin amar

Hiroshima mon amour
The timecoasts wreckage
churned afore,
The Metropolis where all lies
beckoned, and promised more -
The lessons of polluted time
as some exhausted vastness
on a barren shore
pummeled the outreaches of the
nerves and blood living souls
as brown skies overshadowed.

Yea would I know the path through the
red and black checkered mazes,
As Theseus once held a silken thread
past the new metaled Minotaur,
and the dead ends of bourgeois tautologies
- the reasoned click-clack of
mechanistic philosophies,
emerging finally into light
at the end of the tether.
- finding a new Ariadne
weaving a fresh tapestry,
of new suns, new blood, new life -
No se puede vivir sin amar.

- 1986
